NHL Rumors: Avalanche Goaltender Gaining Trade Interest

According to Dan Rosen, the Colorado Avalanche could move Pavel Francouz before the deadline passes.

Any trade that involves Francouz would automatically have to result in the Avalanche receiving an upgrade in net. They have been linked to Marc-Andre Fleury, so perhaps he could be the goaltender who would make Francouz expendable.

Francouz has been very good for Colorado this season, though. After missing the entirety of the 2020-21 campaign, he currently sports a 9-2-0 record, 2.41 goals-against average, and .921 save percentage. He has not looked rusty in the slightest but has also run into some injury trouble at times.

Francouz will be an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season. It's likely that he will receive a raise from his current $2 million cap hit, so it's unclear if Colorado would be willing to re-sign him. Alas, if Colorado wants to make a big splash in goal, it appears Francouz would be the other goalie moved. Darcy Kuemper, on the other hand, should be staying put in this kind of scenario.
