This is a bit of a surprising development, as Texier is still just 22 years old and under team control for several more seasons. However, Seravalli noted that if a team offers Columbus the right package, they would consider moving the young forward.
The timing of this rumor is intriguing, too. Texier is having a career-best season, as he has 11 goals and nine assists in 36 games. Yet, not only is he blossoming into a stronger offensive force, but he also is improving defensively. He could be a very solid two-way center for a team looking to improve their roster.
At this point of the season, the Blue Jackets have a 26-23-1 record and are nine points behind the Bruins for the second Wild Card spot. Overall, they aren't out of the playoff race but also have a lot of ground to make up. Thus, they are expected to make a good amount of moves at the deadline. Now, Texier is reportedly another potential trade target at the deadline. Let's see what happens with him.
