NHL Rumors: Canucks Shopping Veteran Defenseman

According to David Pagnotta, the Vancouver Canucks are listening to trade offers for Tyler Myers.

Last month, we reported that the Canucks could end up moving Myers because they are hoping to free up some cap space. Now, the team is officially shopping the 32-year-old. However, although this happens to be the case, that doesn't automatically mean that they will find an offer they find acceptable.

There's no question that many teams would love to acquire Myers. He's a 6-foot-8, top-four defenseman who is capable of producing offense from the backend. Yet, the biggest obstacle regarding him is his $6 million cap hit until the completion of the 2023-24 season. Although he's a good player, that contract is very expensive and could scare some teams due to its term.

In 53 contests this season. Myers has 11 assists to go along with a plus-11 rating. Offensively, it's been a bit of a down year for the veteran, as he just had a 21-point campaign in 55 games last season. However, he has been making up for it with his defensive play.

It will be intriguing to see if a Myers trade comes to fruition. With this latest development, it's clear that the Canucks are in favor of the idea.
