NHL Rumors: Coyotes And Wild Talking Trade

The Minnesota Wild are very interested in Arizona Coyotes forward Travis Boyd, according to David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period.

It isn't surprising to hear that the Wild are expressing interest in Boyd, as it's well known that they need some help at the center position. He just so happens to be having a very good campaign, too. In 42 games, the 28-year-old has 10 goals to go along with 13 assists. It's been a career year for the longtime depth forward, and there's a market for him because of it.

When looking at the Wild's depth, he could be a decent third-line option for them. He is playing like a top-nine forward right now, and he also is easily affordable in the process. Furthermore, his offensive ability could make him work well on their second power play unit, too.

With the Coyotes fully tanking, they could be a team willing to take on Victor Rask's contract. The veteran center has been sent to the AHL, and Minnesota would benefit immensely getting rid of his $4 million cap hit. This would allow them to make more trades at the deadline, so perhaps this is scenario we could see come to fruition. 

Alas, Boyd may not be a big-name player, but he's a very solid option for a team looking to improve their secondary scoring.
