NHL Rumors: Devils To Move Veteran Winger
According to Frank Seravalli, the New Jersey Devils could move Tomas Tatar by the trade deadline.
Tatar just signed a two-year, $9 million contract with the Devils last summer, but with New Jersey looking to make "hockey trades" this deadline season, he is a player who they could swap. The 31-year-old hasn't been the greatest of fits with the Devils this season, as he has just nine goals and nine assists in 45 games. That is very low for his standards.
During the 2020-21 season with the Montreal Canadiens, he had 10 goals and 30 points in 50 games. However, he was even better during the season before that, as he had a 61-point campaign in just 68 games. This kind of previous production could make a team be interested in him, but there still has to be some concern about how much his offensive production has fallen off this year.
Although the Devils have a 17-26-5 record and are not going to be a playoff team, their primary goal is to improve their roster for next season. Thus, if they can receive a player of equal value for Tatar at the deadline, don't be surprised to see the veteran winger moved.
