NHL Rumors: Flames And Sabres Talking Trade
According to David Pagnotta, the Calgary Flames are expressing interest in Buffalo Sabres defenseman Robert Hagg.
The Flames just made a big splash earlier this month when they acquired Tyler Toffoli from the Montreal Canadiens. However, it is clear that they are still looking to improve upon their roster from here. Although Hagg isn't a star, he has the potential to be a solid bottom-pair or depth defenseman for Calgary.
Hagg was acquired by the Sabres from the Philadephia Flyers in this past summer's Rasmus Ristolainen deal. In 40 games thus far with Buffalo, he has one goal, five assists, and a minus-11 rating. He has been very active in the physical side of the game, as he has an impressive 74 hits on the season.
Hagg doesn't offer much when it comes to offense, but he is a solid defensive defenseman. He wouldn't cost the Flames a lot to acquire him either, so perhaps that is another reason why they are interested.
Alas, it will be interesting to see if Hagg ends up on the Flames by the deadline.
