NHL Rumors: Insider Links Johnny Gaudreau to the Montreal Canadiens
Calgary Flames fans, look away. Hockey insider Pierre LeBrun is one of the best in the business and he also happens to be a slight fan of the Montreal Canadiens. LeBrun recently tweeted out some Canadiens free agent buzz that now has Flames fans up in arms.
Just an idle thought… if for whatever reason Johnny Gaudreau doesn’t re-sign in Calgary and hits the UFA market July 13, his agent Lewis Gross also was Martin St. Louis’ agent and St. Louis was a player Gaudreau looked up to growing up… Like I said, just an idle thought 🤪

Martin St-Louis is the new interim coach of the Canadiens and is likely going to get a new contract when the season is over to stay in town for a few years. Gaudreau on the other hand is enjoying a bounce back season out west and the Flames look like a potential powerhouse to come out of the Western Conference. The connection between these two certainly has Habs fans giddy.
So far in 44 games, Gaudreau has recorded 56 points and the 28-year-old is in line for a hefty pay raise on top of his $6.75 million annual salary. There was a lot of talks earlier in the season about the Flames listening to trade offers but that buzz has since passed and it's very likely he finishes this season in Calgary. After that though? Anyone's guess at this point and while he could re-sign with the Flames, Gaudreau has also been linked to his hometown Philadelphia Flyers, the New York Rangers and now the Canadiens.
Just a random thought !
