NHL Rumors: Jack Eichel Set to Make Debut With Vegas Golden Knights
Injury equals opportunity and nobody will find that out more than Vegas Golden Knights forward Jack Eichel. According Scott Maxwell of Daily Faceoff, it sounds like Mark Stone is headed to long-term injured reserve with a back injury which could sideline him potentially for the rest of the regular season. This in turn opens up a spot for Eichel to be activated to the Golden Knights roster.
Now we have to wait and see if Eichel will be activated immediately as he was only cleared for contact a few days ago. He's been chomping at the bit to get going with Vegas so you know the player will be pushing for a spot in the lineup.
The news of the Stone injury is obviously bad, but also a little bit good, just on the fact the team won't have to necessarily trade one of Rielly Smith, Jonathan Marchessault or Evgeni Dadonov as the team is pressed up against the salary cap and need to insert $10-million in salary.
Eichel last played during the 2020-21 season where he put up 18 points in 21 games. So far in 375 career games, all with the Buffalo Sabres, he's recorded 355 points and has yet to sniff the Stanley Cup playoffs. That should all be changing soon, live from the Vegas strip. Doesn't get much better than that.
