NHL Rumors: Kings Interested In Canadiens Forward
According to Elliotte Friedman, the Los Angeles Kings are interested in Montreal Canadiens forward Tyler Toffoli.
A reunion between the Kings and Toffoli would be nice to see, as he of course started his career there. Yet, it would also be very beneficial for Los Angeles, as they are in need of a top-six winger. At this juncture of the campaign, they have a 24-16-7 record and are third in the Pacific Division. They currently hold a playoff spot and are exceeding initial expectations, so why shouldn't they look to be buyers?
Toffoli is locked up under contract until the completion of the 2023-24 season and has a $4.25 million cap hit. Therefore, he would be more than a rental, which could be perfect for a team like the Kings. There is no real harm in adding him, and that's still the case even if they were to fall out of playoff contention. They of course wouldn't run the risk of losing via free agency this summer, either.
In 35 games this season, Toffoli has nine goals to go along with 17 assists. This kind of production would be great for the Kings to have in their lineup. Furthermore, he of course is a familiar face, so he knows their veterans quite well, too.
