NHL Rumors: Kings Won't Trade Veteran Goaltender

According to Elliotte Friedman, the Los Angeles Kings "have zero desire" to trade away longtime goaltender Jonathan Quick.

There have been rumblings that the Kings would move Quick for quite some time now. This escalated even further after they signed Cal Petersen to a three-year, $15 million contract extension. However, the veteran has been having a very solid bounce-back season, while the latter has had his fair share of struggles. Thus, the Kings certainly aren't in a position where they need to move Quick right now.

In 27 appearances this season, Quick sports an 11-10-6 record, 2.58 goals-against average, and .913 save percentage. His play is a notable reason why the Kings are currently third in the Pacific Division and could find themselves back in the playoffs this spring. That is something not many hockey fans expected from the rebuilding franchise, but alas, it's true.

Quick carries a $5.8 million cap hit until the end of next season. General manager Rob Blake also noted that he's comfortable going into next season with both of them, even if he and Petersen have a combined cap hit of over $11 million. Thus, at this juncture, the 36-year-old should be finishing his contract with Los Angeles.
