NHL Rumors: Kraken To Trade Veteran Forward
The Seattle Kraken are expected to trade Marcus Johansson before the deadline passes, according to Frank Seravalli.
The Kraken's inaugural season hasn't gone the way that they wanted it to, as they have a 16-30-4 record. With this, they are at the bottom of the Pacific Division and expected to be major sellers this deadline season. Johansson is definitely a player to watch during it, as he is a pending unrestricted free agent. Thus, he is one of their many rental candidates.
Johansson has been providing solid secondary scoring for the Kraken this season. In 38 games, he has six goals to go along with 11 helpers. Overall, he is the kind of player a contender could target if they are looking for more offense in their bottom six. Furthermore, he is capable of playing all three forward positions, so he offers outstanding versatility, too.
When seeing as how Johansson also only carries a $1.5 million cap hit, it's hard to believe that there won't be a market for him. It will be interesting to see where the 31-year-old ends up finishing the season. With so many teams in need of forward depth, there should be plenty of potential options.
