NHL Rumors: Maple Leafs Linked To Kraken Forward
According to David Pagnotta, the Toronto Maple Leafs are expressing interest in Seattle Kraken forward Calle Jarnkrok.
Jarnkrok is currently in the final year of his contract. With the Kraken completely out of the playoff picture, they are expected to be sellers, and Jarnkrok is one of their biggest rental candidates. He also only carries a $2 million cap hit, and that's certainly low for what he provides.
When looking at the Maple Leafs' current forward group, Jarnkrok could fit in nicely. The 30-year-old offers extreme versatility, as he is one of those rare players who can thrive at all three forward positions. Thus, if acquired by Toronto, they could play him in any role.
After a slow start to the year, Jarnkrok has completely turned it around over these last few months. In 42 games, he now has 10 goals to go along with 12 assists. Overall, he is a very solid option for any team looking to acquire a middle-six forward.
It will be interesting to see if the Maple Leafs pull the trigger and bring Jarnkrok in. With Nick Ritchie finally being traded and Jake Muzzin currently on LTIR, they have money to work with.
