NHL Rumors: Oilers Linked To Jets Forward

According to David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period, the Edmonton Oilers are interested in Winnipeg Jets forward Andrew Copp. 

Copp is a pending unrestricted free agent and will be looking to land a big payday on the open market. At this time, the Jets are also seven points behind the Los Angeles Kings for the second Wild Card spot. Due to this, there's a good chance that they will be sellers, and Copp will be their biggest rental candidate. 

The Oilers could use another middle-six forward in their lineup, and Copp would be able to provide them with just that. The 27-year-old is also very versatile, as he can play all three forward positions if needed. Due to this, they would have multiple options with the Michigan native. 

Copp is having another strong season this year, too. In 47 games, he has 12 goals, 16 assists, and a plus-2 rating. With that, he also works well on both the power play and penalty kill, so he brings a bit of everything to the lineup. 

There will be plenty of other teams interested in Copp, so a move to Edmonton is certainly not a guarantee. However, with the Oilers looking to cause damage this postseason, it would help to add another talented forward to their group. Yet, their biggest priority should still be adding a goalie, too.
