NHL Rumors: Panthers Interested In Veteran Defenseman

According to Pierre LeBrun, the Florida Panthers are expressing interest in Seattle Kraken defenseman Mark Giordano.

Giordano does have a 10-team no-trade list, but it is hard to believe that he would reject a move to the Panthers - if the opportunity presented itself, of course. The veteran defenseman has yet to win a Stanley Cup, and the Panthers are one of the few teams who truly look like they are on the verge to do just that. At this juncture of the campaign, they sport a 32-10-5 record and have the most points in the Eastern Conference.

It has been noted that the Panthers are looking to add a big-name defenseman by the deadline, and Giordano fits that description. He is having a bit of a down year offensively, but he is also playing for a struggling Kraken team. In 41 games, he has four goals to go along with 14 helpers. Yet, the 38-year-old is still quite good and also comes with an immense amount of experience and leadership. He was captain of the Calgary Flames for eight years, keep in mind.

The Panthers are expected to be big buyers this year, so it will be intriguing to see if they are the lucky team who wins the Giordano sweepstakes.
