NHL Rumors: Rangers and Canadiens Could Provide Blockbuster Deal
The Montreal Canadiens have started their fire sale and rumor has plenty of more trades coming down the pipe from their new management duo of Kent Hughes and Jeff Gorton. While Hughes comes from the player/agent side of the game, Gorton joined Montreal with a long history in the New York Rangers organization and wouldn't you know the two could be working on a huge trade.
Keep an eye on the Rangers and the Habs between now and March 21. I think Montreal covets some Rangers prospects. Habs could fill some Rangers needs. Montreal would rather add prospects over picks. Already have 12 picks for the July draft. Rangers' pipeline drawing Habs interest

Names to watch here include defenseman Ben Chiarot and forwards Cedric Paquette and Artturi Lehkonen, meanwhile the Rangers are dangling Russian prospect Vitali Kravtsov, former second-round pick Matthew Robertson and backup netminder Alexandar Georgiev. If a deal goes down expect to see multiple pieces involved as this won't be a one for one type of trade.
The Rangers have become a powerhouse in the east and the Canadiens have shifted their focus to the future and being able to hit the reset button as quickly as possible for the franchise. Two rivals who have trade history together and appear to be once again headed down that lovely road of negotiations.
