NHL Rumors: Rangers Interested In Blue Jackets Forward

The New York Rangers are interested in acquiring Columbus Blue Jackets forward Max Domi, according to David Pagnotta.

The Rangers have been on the hunt for a middle-six forward since Sammy Blais was ruled out for the remainder of the season. Domi is an intriguing option to fulfill this need, as he is capable of playing both center and on the wing. This could be a notable reason why New York wants to add the 26-year-old to their roster.

In 40 games this season with the Blue Jackets, Domi has nine goals, 15 assists, and an even rating. Overall, that kind of production being added to the Rangers' lineup would be welcomed. He has improved from last season, as he had the exact same stats as this year, but in 14 more games played. Yet, if he joined the Rangers, he could produce even more frequently due to their stronger cast of players.

Domi is in the final year of his contract, so he would understandably be a rental. However, with the Ranger sporting a 32-13-5 record and looking like legitimate contenders, these are the kind of players they should be adding for the postseason. Overall, Domi would not only provide them with more secondary scoring but also some more grit.
