NHL Rumors: Sabres Shopping Defenseman

According to Chris Johnston, the Buffalo Sabres could trade Mark Pysyk before the deadline. 

Pysyk just signed a one-year, $900,000 contract with the Sabres during the summer. This began a reunion between the two parties, as the Sabres initially drafted the 30-year-old with the 23rd overall pick of the 2010 NHL Entry Draft. So far, he has been a decent addition during his second stint with them, as he has one goal, eight assists, and an even rating in 46 games thus far. 

Pysyk is one of the many rental candidates that Buffalo has this season. He could certainly grab the attention of other teams, as he is one of those rare players who can play both defense and forward. This kind of versatility comes in handy when injuries arise, and with how packed many teams' schedules are for the remainder of the season, they may occur more frequently. 

Pysyk has the ability to be a decent bottom-pair defenseman but also works well as an extra defenseman, too. It will be interesting to see if the veteran gets moved by the deadline. When seeing as how he is very affordable and can fill multiple different roles, it seems rather probable.
