Both Craig Anderson and Dustin Tokarski have returned from their injuries, so this shouldn't be surprising to anybody. However, even with this being the case, Houser deserves an immense amount of respect for stepping in and doing it well in the process. In two appearances with the NHL squad, the 29-year-old sported a 2-0-0 record, .948 save percentage, and 2.00 goals-against average. He did far more than what was expected of him, regardless of the small sample size.
With his success during those two games, could a team consider claiming him? It isn't out of the question if they are currently dealing with multiple goalies out due to either injuries or illness. It could be an interesting storyline to follow if this does come to fruition.
Yet, if Houser goes unclaimed, he will be heading back to the Rochester Americans. In 11 appearances this season with the team, he has a .900 save percentage and 2.98 goals-against average. Let's see what happens from here.
