Sean Avery Begins Comeback Attempt

The Orlando Solar Bears have signed Sean Avery to an ECHL Standard Player Contract.

This is something not too many people would have predicted. Avery retired from hockey back in 2012 and has since focused on a number of different projects outside of the sport. Yet, now after 10 years, the 41-year-old is ready to return to hockey.

Avery will begin his time with the team on their reserve list. However, as he gets back into hockey shape, he should be given the chance to play. It will be intriguing to see if the veteran maintains his agitating style of play after all these years. That is of course what made him so famous during his time in the NHL.

In 580 career games between the Detroit Red Wings, Los Angeles Kings, Dallas Stars, and New York Rangers, Avery had 90 goals, 157 assists, 247 points, and a monstrous 1,533 penalty minutes.

Nevertheless, this is a fun development in the hockey world.
