Sharks Defenseman To Miss Time
San Jose Sharks defenseman Jaycob Megna has undergone foot surgery and will be out for the next four to six weeks.
Megna has been getting his first taste of NHL action since the 2018-19 campaign with the Anaheim Ducks. That alone is a nice accomplishment for the longtime AHL defenseman, but he has also seen his role with the team increase due to the Sharks' injury trouble. However, his season now, unfortunately, has to be put on pause.
In 19 games with the Sharks this season, he has one goal, 30 hits, and an even rating. Although he hasn't been dominant offensively, he has still provided reliability on the back end to go along with a bit of grit. Therefore, he has been making an impact thus far.
Before being called up by the Sharks this season, Megna played just 43 career NHL games with the Ducks over three seasons. He has been making a case to stay on San Jose's NHL roster, but time will tell how much this injury impacts that from here. Here's to hoping he has a speedy recovery and can get back on the ice soon.
