Sharks Forward Placed On Waivers
The San Jose Sharks have placed Lane Pederson on waivers.
This news comes right as the Sharks claimed Ryan Dzingel off waivers. San Jose needed to open up an NHL roster spot for him to join the team, and it appears that they viewed Pederson as expendable to do so.
The Sharks acquired Pederson from the Arizona Coyotes last offseason. The 24-year-old was given a decent amount of chances, as he appeared in 26 games for the team. In them, he had two assists and a minus-14 rating. With this, it's fair to state that he didn't take the world by storm, so it makes sense that San Jose has opted to make this move.
Although Pederson hasn't been dominant at the NHL level, there could be some teams interested him. He is still young enough where there is room for growth. With that, he was a point-per-game player at the AHL level over the previous two campaigns, so perhaps the potential to be more of an offensive threat is there.
Nevertheless, it will be interesting to see what happens from here with Pederson.
