Stars Claim Forward From Devils
The Dallas Stars have claimed Marian Studenic off waivers from the New Jersey Devils.
Although Studenic passed through waivers the first time the Devils placed him on them, they weren't so lucky this time around. This isn't the most surprising of developments, as the winger is still just 23 years old and still has room for growth. Furthermore, he has had played well with the Utica Comets this season. In 13 games, he had five goals and five assists.
Due to Dougie Hamilton finally being ready to return, the Devils needed to clear up a roster spot on their NHL roster. They viewed Studenic as expendable, and he will now be a member of the Stars because of it. It will be interesting to see if he's able to produce a bit more with the change of scenery. In 17 games this season with the Devils, he had just one goal.
Studenic has shown slight signs of progression in his development, so this could turn out to be a solid move for Dallas. It also doesn't hurt that he only carries a $750,000 cap hit. Overall, the Stars have added to their forward depth, so it's hard to find much to complain about with this one.
