Video: Brad Marchand's Two Cheap Shots On Tristan Jarry
Boston Bruins forward Brad Marchand has a suspension coming his way. At the end of Tuesday night's game against the Pittsburgh Penguins, he received a match penalty for sucker-punching Tristan Jarry and then hitting him in the head with his stick.
A match penalty carries a suspension automatically. When looking at Marchand's long history of suspensions, this could be a rather long one for the 33-year-old winger. Keep in mind, he just was handed a three-game suspension for a slew foot on Vancouver Canucks defenseman Oliver Ekman-Larsson earlier this season, too. That isn't going to help his case in the slightest.
At this point of the season, the Bruins have a 26-15-3 record and hold the second Wild Card spot in the Eastern Conference. The Detroit Red Wings are nine points behind them and have played three more games, so the Bruins aren't necessarily in too much trouble. However, losing Marchand for a handful of games could help Detroit gain a little more ground on them if the Bruins can't win without him. This is especially true if Patrice Bergeron, who left Tuesday's game early, has to miss time because of his injury.
Alas, we will have to wait and see how long Marchand gets suspended for his cheap shots on Jarry.
