Video: Golden Knights' Nolan Patrick Hurt After Scary Hit From Avs' Nathan MacKinnon
It was a scary scene in Vegas on Wednesday night as forward Nolan Patrick had to leave the game just two minutes into the first period after being levelled by Colorado Avalanche star Nathan MacKinnon.
MacKinnon absolutely crushed Patrick with a blindside hit, making direct contact with his head and Patrick's helmet slammed against the ice as he fell. Patrick was forced to leave the game and considering his history with concussions and migraines it's a scary situation for everyone involved. Patrick missed the entire 2019-20 season due to head injuries and has admitted it was a very scary time in his life and hockey career.
MacKinnon was given a two-minute penalty for interference but perhaps should have been given a five-minute major and a game misconduct. Here's the hit which will be reviewed on Thursday by the NHL's Department of Player Safety:
