Video: Sabres' Skinner Scores 4 Goals
On Sunday against the Montreal Canadiens, Jeff Skinner had himself a four-goal game and added an assist for good measure.
Skinner had just seven goals in 53 games last season, so he scored more than half of last year's production in just one game. After his disastrous 2020-21 campaign, many fans were calling him washed up, but he has been silencing his critics well this season. In 45 games, he now has 20 goals and 34 points - where he leads the team in each category.
Skinner is truly starting to make up for last season. Although his $9 million cap hit is too expensive, he at least is starting to live up to it a bit more. He is looking like the top-six winger he was just a few seasons ago.
Here's to hoping that Skinner can continue to play this well for the remainder of the season. He has a very good shot of reaching 30 goals by the end of the year, and that would make for one marvelous bounce-back season for the 29-year-old.
