Video: Tyler Toffoli Scores First Goal With Flames
In his debut with the Calgary Flames on Tuesday night, Tyler Toffoli beat Columbus Blue Jackets goaltender Elvis Merzlikins on the breakaway for his first goal with the team.
Everything about this goal was nice. First, Johnny Gaudreau made a beautiful flip pass to Toffoli, and the latter then deked Merzlikins out before scoring. This is something that Calgary fans could end up seeing a lot more of over these next handful of years.
The best way to leave a good first impression is to score a goal in your debut. This is exactly what Toffoli did, and it didn't hurt that it also occurred at the Saddledome.
In 38 games this season, Toffoli now has 10 goals and 17 assists. It will be interesting to see how much his totals go up now as a member of the Flames. When looking at how much stronger Calgary's roster is than Montreal's, he may thrive with having more talent around him.
The Flames would go on to defeat the Blue Jackets by a 6-2 final score. With this, they improved to 27-13-6, while Columbus is now 23-23-1.
