Avalanche And Canadiens Strike A Deal
The Colorado Avalanche have acquired Artturi Lehkonen from the Montreal Canadiens in exchange for Justin Barron and a second-round pick.
Lehkonen was one of many Canadiens who have been in the rumor mill over the last few months. Now, the Avalanche are the team to have landed them and have improved their offense in the process. The 26-year-old should work well on their third line and even could be utilized on the penalty kill, too.
It's also been a career year for Lehkonen, too. In 58 games, he has 13 goals and 16 assists. With numbers like these, he was one of the few pleasant surprises of this season but now he will be taking his talents to the Avalanche.
The Canadiens landed themselves a very good prospect in Barron. He is viewed as having the potential to blossom into a top-four defenseman and with the Canadiens, he could play on their NHL roster immediately. In 43 games this season with the Colorado Eagles, he had five goals and 15 assists.
