Avalanche Captain Out Indefinitely
Colorado Avalanche forward Gabriel Landeskog has had knee surgery and will be out indefinitely.
The team believes that he could be back in time for the playoffs, but time will tell on that front. Yet, knee surgery is no joke, so it's hard to determine if he will return by then. Thus, there is no question that this is a monstrous blow to the league's best Avalanche.
Landeskog has been having himself an incredibly strong season this year. In 51 games, he has 30 goals, 29 assists, and a plus-27 rating. He has been on pace to have the best campaign of his career, but this injury now will be put on pause at a minimum.
Assuming Landeskog is placed on LTIR, the Avalanche will be gaining some cap space in preparation for the deadline. This, in turn, should help their chances of bringing in one of the several big-name players they are interested in. Time will tell on that front, but even with this, this is very bad news for Colorado.
