Bruins Sign Defenseman To Extension
The Boston Bruins have signed Hampus Lindholm to an eight-year, $52 million contract extension. With this, he will have an average annual value of $6.5 million.
The Bruins made a massive trade with the Anaheim Ducks on Saturday that centered around Lindholm. The left side of their defense has been a major issue for them since the departures of Torey Krug and Zdeno Chara. With this move, however, they finally have a legitimate top-four d-man again on it. Now, he will be sticking around for a very long time, too.
In 61 games this season, Lindholm has five goals, 17 assists, and an even rating. Overall, he has shown throughout his career that he can produce offensively a bit from the point, but more importantly, he is extremely reliable defensively.
Nevertheless, this is a major extension for the 28-year-old. It made public that he wanted a long-term deal if he were to sign an extension, and he now has gotten just that from the B's.
