Canadiens Defenseman Out Indefinitely

The Montreal Canadiens have announced that Jeff Petry will be out indefinitely due to a lower-body injury.

This certainly isn't the best news for Montreal. Although they are out of playoff contention, Petry is a player who they are likely to trade during the offseason. After a very poor start to the season, the 34-year-old's trade value understandably dropped. However, he has picked his play up as of late, so this is just bad timing.

In 57 games this season, Petry has four goals, 16 assists, and a minus-10 rating. It's hard to predict whether or not he will be back before the season is done, but with Montreal being so low in the standings, one could argue that it would be best to sit him out for his long-term future.

Nevertheless, this news comes just one day after Jonathan Drouin was deemed as out indefinitely. Needless to say, the injury bug is continuing to hit the Canadiens with full force.
