Capitals Sign Forward To Extension

The Washington Capitals have signed Mike Vecchione to a one-year, two-way extension. He will make $750,000 at the NHL level and $275,000 in the minors.

Vecchione has played in one game with the Capitals this season. In it, he did not get on the scoresheet. However, with the team signing him to an extension, it's clear that he has been impressing them with his AHL play. Perhaps we will see him get more call-ups to the NHL squad from here.

Vecchione has also been a key player for the Hershey Bears this season. In 46 games on the year, he has 13 goals to go along with 25 assists. With these numbers, he is having the best offensive campaign of his AHL career. This, it is easy to understand why Washington wants to keep him around in their system.

In three career NHL games between the Philadelphia Flyers and Capitals, Vecchione has zero points and a minus-2 rating.
