Coyotes Sign Forward To Extension
The Arizona Coyotes have signed Travis Boyd to a two-year, $3.5 million contract extension.
This is pretty notable, as Boyd was getting a lot of interest from the trade market. The 28-year-old was one of Arizona's biggest rental candidates, but now he officially will be staying put. When looking at how well he has played this season for them, it ultimately makes sense that they have decided to sign him to an extension.
After several years of being an extra forward for multiple different teams, Boyd has found himself a permanent spot in the Coyotes' lineup. He certainly hasn't disappointed in the process, as he has 10 goals to go along with 14 points. With this kind of production, he is having himself a career year and showing the league that he is meant to be an NHLer. Now, he has landed this sweet contract in the process.
If Boyd can continue to play this well once his extension begins, this honestly could be a steal for the Coyotes. Even if he does cool off a bit, it is still a very affordable contract, and the Coyotes have plenty of money to work with. Therefore, there's no real risk.
