Coyotes Sign Forward To Extension
The Arizona Coyotes have signed Liam O'Brien to a two-year contract extension.
This signing comes just one day after the Coyotes extended Travis Boyd for two years. Needless to say, the Coyotes are being very active before the trade deadline.
For the entirety of his professional hockey career, O'Brien has primarily played in the minors. Yet, he seems to have found himself a permanent spot on the Coyotes this season, and that is excellent news for the 27-year-old. Now that he has earned this multi-year extension, he should continue to be utilized in their bottom six.
In 37 games this season with the Coyotes, O'Brien has two goals, one assist, and a whopping 106 penalty minutes. He's an old-fashioned enforcer who plays an immensely heavy game. With Arizona in a rebuilding mode, it doesn't hurt to have a player like him around.
In 66 career games between the Washington Capitals, Colorado Avalanche, and Coyotes, he has three goals, eight assists, and 174 penalty minutes.
