Coyotes Sign Goaltender To Extension
The Arizona Coyotes are signing Karel Vejmelka to a three-year extension. He will have an average annual value of $2.725 million.
Vejmelka's name has come in the rumor mill over the last few months. However, the Coyotes have decided to keep their top goaltender around for their current rebuild. It is understandable, as the 25-year-old has been one of the biggest feel-good stories of the year thus far.
Out of nowhere, Vejmelka managed to make Arizona's NHL roster at the beginning of the season and has since emerged as their number one goaltender. In 36 games on the year, he has a 10-23-1 record, 3.35 GAA, and .905 SV%.
Although the Coyotes have been trading several of their top players since last offseason, we now know Vejmelka will not be one of them with this new contract. It will be interesting to see how he performs from here.
