Ducks Claim Forward Off Waivers
The Anaheim Ducks have claimed Gerry Mayhew off of waivers from the Philadelphia Flyers.
Mayhew played in 25 games this season with the Flyers, where he had six goals and a minus-5 rating. With the team trading away Hampus Lindholm, Josh Manson, and Nicolas Deslauriers already, it makes sense that they have decided to bring in a new roster player. Rickard Rakell should soon be following, too.
Mayhew has primarily played at the AHL level but has had some fantastic years in the process. His best campaign came in 2019-20, as he had 39 goals and 61 points in 49 games. He has cooled off this year in the AHL, however, as he has 16 points in 24 games.
In 42 career NHL games between the Wild and Flyers, Mayhew has eight goals, one assist, and an even rating. With the Ducks, he should now have the chance to build on these totals.
