Islanders Extend 2 Veteran Forwards
The New York Islanders have signed Cal Clutterbuck and Zach Parise to contract extensions.
Clutterbuck's extension is a two-year deal and will carry a cap hit of $1.75 million. Parise, on the other hand, will make $1.5 million for the 2022-23 campaign.
Clutterbuck was viewed as a big rental candidate, but the Islanders have opted to give him an extension. It was a little bit of a surprising move, as his grit and experience would have landed New York a very solid return. Yet, it's clear that they wanted to keep the 34-year-old around because of these characteristics.
Parise has produced solid secondary scoring in his season with the Islanders. In 60 games, he has eight goals, 16 assists, and an even rating. Overall, the 37-year-old has proven to be a good addition to their roster, even if the team itself has vastly underperformed this campaign.
