Jets Sign Forward To Extension
The Winnipeg Jets have signed Kristian Reichel to a two-year extension. He will have an average annual value of $775,000.
Reichel has gotten his first taste of NHL action this season with the Jets. In 13 games, he has one goal, one assist, and a minus-2 rating. Overall, he is starting to show that he can be an effective depth forward for the team. Also, with him just being 23 years old, there's the possibility that he could blossom into a full-time NHLer in the near future.
Reichel has been producing fairly well with the Manitoba Moose this season, too. In 26 games, he has five goals and 12 points, so he does a little bit of a scoring touch. It will be intriguing to see if this can translate over to the NHL as he continues to get more experience.
Nevertheless, this is a bit of a small move by the Jets, but it does show that they have trust in Reichel's development. Let's see if the youngster can be a regular in Winnipeg's roster by the time the extension is over.
