Jets To Be Without 2 Players
The Winnipeg Jets are set to be shorthanded, as Kyle Connor and Nate Schmidt have entered COVID-19 protocol and each tested positive for the virus.
This is extremely poor timing for the Jets, as they are aiming to get back into the playoff race. At this time, they currently trail the Dallas Stars by one point for the final Wild Card spot in the Western Conference. Thus, they need to go on a run before the season is over and losing two key players certainly doesn't help with that.
Connor has been the Jets best player all season, so his absence is very bad news for the Jets. At this point of the campaign, he leads the team in goals (41) and points (41). Needless to say, replacing that kind of excellent production in the lineup will be immensely challenging.
Schmidt has also had a very solid season this year. In 66 games, he has four goals to go along with 27 assists. Overall, he has proven to be a great addition to Winnipeg's lineup, but they now will miss his offensive touch from the blueline while he is forced to be sidelined.
