Kings Sign 2 Prospects
The Los Angeles Kings have signed David Hrenak and Andre Lee to entry-level contracts.
Hrenak inked a one-year, $925,000 deal that will be for the 2022-23 campaign. The Kings selected the 23-year-old goaltender with the 144th-overall pick of the 2018 NHL Entry Draft. He just completed his senior season with St. Cloud State University, where he had a 2.26 GAA and .914 SV%. With Jonathan Quick in the latter stages of his career, it certainly makes sense for them to add another goalie to their prospect pool.
Lee signed a two-year, entry-level contract that will also begin next season, too. The 21-year-old forward was selected with the 188th-overall pick of the 2019 NHL Entry Draft by the Kings. In his third year at UMass-Lowell, he was extremely effective, as he had 16 goals and 28 points in 34 games. It was a breakout campaign for the 6-foot-5 forward, and the Kings have rewarded him with an ELC because of it.
Nevertheless, it's always a good thing for a team to lock up their college prospects. Now, the Kings have signed two of them, and it will be intriguing to see if these two eventually become NHL regulars for them.
