Kraken Sign Forward To Extension
The Seattle Kraken have signed Jared McCann to a five-year, $25 million contract extension. It will begin during the 2022-23 season.
This is excellent news for both the player and team. McCann has been a bit of a journeyman over his career, as he is currently playing for his fifth team in just seven seasons. Now, he will finally have more stability from here, as he has earned himself a multi-year extension. Seattle, on the other hand, are keeping one of their top forwards around. The 25-year-old was set to be an RFA, but now that will not be happening.
In 50 games this season, McCann has a career-high 21 goals to go along with 12 assists. With this, he has a team-leading 33 points, so it's fair to say that Seattle is ecstatic to be keeping him around long-term.
There were some rumblings that McCann could have been traded some point soon, as he was nearing closer to unrestricted free agency status. Now, Kraken fans don't have to worry about that possibility.
