NHL Rumors: 3 Potential Destinations for PK Subban
The New Jersey Devils and PK Subban have been rumored to a contract termination which could set off other teams. Subban's $9 million annual salary is getting in the way of a trade being completed before the March 21 deadline and the rumors have started about the termination taken place for Subban to sign with a contender for league minimum.
However, this may piss off GMs around the league if Subban goes to a team they might end up facing that they feel might give them an edge by adding Subban for nothing.

The Tampa Bay Lightning would love to add Subban before the deadline on a league minimum contract. If you remember back a couple seasons they added Kevin Shattenkirk to their group and he ended up hitting the reset button his career, won a Stanley Cup and was rewarded with a multi-year deal with the Anaheim Ducks. Subban could pull off a similar move as the Lightning just lost Andrej Sustr to waivers and have a need for a depth right-handed defenseman.
The Toronto Maple Leafs are also believed to be interested in Subban if the Devils terminate his contract. General manager Kyle Dubas has been working the phones trying to acquire another defenseman and while Subban isn't at the top of his priority list, there would likely be mutual interest from both parties if he's freed from his contract in New Jersey. So far this season the Toronto native has recorded 18 points in 54 games and would provide Toronto with an upgrade over Travis Dermott on their depth chart.
Another team to watch would be the Calgary Flames. The have sky rocketed up the standings in the western conference this season and it has a ton to do with their defensive schemes and players buying into the system. They are looking to add a defenseman before the deadline and could see Subban at $750,000 prorated for the remainder of the season as a perfect low-risk high-reward type of acquisition. As for the Devils, they have no interest in re-signing the veteran defenseman, so expect a move either way before the deadline.
