The primary reason why a DeBrusk trade has not occurred yet is because of his $4.41 million qualifying offer. The 25-year-old has struggled over these last few seasons, so teams are understandably hesitant about committing to that high of a salary. However, if he were to sign an extension with the Bruins at a lower cap hit than that, it would help raise his value.
DeBrusk has been playing wonderfully as of late, however. Over his last six games, he has seven goals and two assists. He has worked well on the first line with Brad Marchand and Patrice Bergeron, but this promotion has not changed his mind about staying. He still wants out.
In 49 games this season, DeBrusk has 14 goals and 10 assists. It will be interesting to see what happens next with this ongoing situation from here.
