Hoffman was one of Montreal's big offseason additions last summer, but like many of his teammates, the 32-year-old has had his fair share of struggles. In 44 games on the campaign, he has 11 goals to go along with 12 assists. Although his numbers are down, it is also important to remember that he has been heating up lately. Over his last five games, he has two goals and four helpers.
Hoffman could very well benefit from a trade elsewhere. It's been established that Montreal is ready to begin their rebuild, and he simply doesn't seem to fit in it. Furthermore, he just had a 36-point campaign in 52 games with the St. Louis Blues, so he could produce that well again on a stronger team.
Alas, it will be intriguing to see if Hoffman gets dealt before the deadline.
