NHL Rumors: Ducks Not Having Extension Talks With Defenseman
According to Pierre LeBrun, the Anaheim Ducks have not begun extension talks with Josh Manson.
LeBrun noted that the Ducks are more focused on signing Hampus Lindholm to an extension right now. This is understandable, as he has emerged as their most important defenseman over the years. Yet, Manson is also a very good part of their blueline, too, so it won't be surprising to hear conversations begin between both parties soon.
GM Pat Verbeek has noted that he will trade Lindholm, Manson, and Rickard Rakell before the deadline if they do not reach contract extensions with the team. Due to the fact that they haven't started those talks with Manson, it seems very possible that the 30-year-old will be moved soon. However, he will have to approve of it, as he has a 12-team no-trade list.
In 43 games this season, Manson has three goals, four assists, and an even rating. He also has been remained very physical, as his 49 penalty minutes and 112 hits show perfectly.
Alas, it will be interesting to see what happens between Manson and the Ducks from here.
