It has been reported that the Sharks and Hertl were engaging in serious extension talks, as both parties were hoping to continue their relationship. Now with this massive development, it is clear that it is coming true.
Hertl was one of the biggest names in the rumor mill. The Sharks are out of the playoff race, and the star center was set to become an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season. Yet, with an extension coming to fruition, he of course will not be on the move.
In 59 games this season, Hertl has 25 goals, 23 assists, and a minus-8 rating. Overall, it has been another excellent season for the 28-year-old, and now San Jose will be keeping their center around for a very long time.
