NHL Rumors: Teams Calling Sharks About Veteran Goalie
According to Pierre LeBrun, teams are calling the San Jose Sharks about goaltender James Reimer.
Reimer is a solid trade candidate for teams in need of stronger goaltending. The veteran also has a very good contract, as he carries only a $2.25 million cap hit until the end of the next season. Therefore, he would be more than a rental if another team acquires him.
In 37 appearances this season with the Sharks, Reimer sports a 16-13-6 record, 2.80 GAA, and .916 SV%. Overall, he has put together a pretty strong campaign, so his trade value right now is likely very decent, too.
Although teams are calling about Reimer, that does not automatically mean that he will be traded. It would make sense for San Jose to keep him, as he does not have an expiring contract and has been a great fit. However, if the right offer comes along, the potential of a trade occurring is there.
