NHL Rumors: Wild Set Asking Price For Prospect
The Minnesota Wild want a second-round pick in exchange for Jack McBain's signing rights, according to Jeff Marek.
McBain is currently in his final season with Boston College. Due to the fact that he is eligible to become an unrestricted free agent, the Wild are understandably open to trading his rights before the deadline passes. However, he also has had an excellent senior campaign, so there should be plenty of interest in his services around the league.
In 22 games this season with Boston College, he has an impressive 18 goals to go along with 11 helpers. In his first three seasons with BC, he scored six goals in each of them, so he has shown significant improvement this campaign. That certainly is helping raise his value as a prospect, so it is understandable that the Wild want a second-round pick for his rights.
It will be intriguing to see what happens from here with McBain. The Wild still could try to sign him to an entry-level contract, but if they do not want to run the risk of losing him for nothing this summer, a trade seems more likely.
