Oilers Acquire Veteran Center From Flyers

The Edmonton Oilers have acquired Derick Brassard from the Philadelphia Flyers in exchange for a 2023 fourth-round pick.

Brassard has dealt with a lot of injury trouble this season, but when healthy, he has proven that he can still be a solid secondary scorer. In 31 games this campaign, the 34-year-old has six goals, 10 assists, and a plus-6 rating.

The Oilers needed a bit more depth up front, and now they landed that with Brassard. The third-line center role has been one of the biggest questions this campaign for Edmonton (besides goaltending), so it will be intriguing to see if he ends up being the answer for it.

With this trade, Brassard is joining the 10th team of his career. Needless to say, he has earned the description of "journeyman."
