Oilers And Sharks Complete Trade

The Edmonton Oilers have traded Alex Stalock to the San Jose Sharks for future considerations.

This move comes shortly after San Jose goaltender James Reimer sustained a lower-body injury. Adin Hill is also currently out for the Sharks, so they understandably needed to add a goaltender. Now, they have one in Stalock. 

Stalock has not played in the NHL since the 2019-20 season. He developed myocarditis after being diagnosed with COVID-19 and was forced to be sidelined. However, he was just given the okay to play by doctors earlier this season and has been playing with the Bakersfield Condors since. In five appearances with the AHL squad, he had a 3-1-0 record, .862 save percentage, and 3.81 goals-against average.

Stalock will now be aiming to return to the NHL with the team who drafted him back in 2005. Thus, he is a familiar face to the organization. In 151 games between the Sharks and Minnesota Wild, he has a 123-61-49 record, .910 save percentage, and 2.67 goals-against average.
