Oilers Sign Forward To Contract Extension
The Edmonton Oilers have signed Seth Griffith to a two-year, two-way contract extension.
Griffith has played in one game with the Oilers this season and was held off the scoresheet. With their AHL affiliate, the Bakersfield Condors, the 29-year-old has been excellent. In 40 games thus far, he has 20 goals, 32 assists, and 52 points. He leads the team with all three of these major statistics, so it's fair to say that he's leaving a serious impact.
Due to how well he's been playing for the Condors, it makes sense that the Oilers have decided to keep him around. If he remains with Bakersfield from here, he will continue to be one of their top scorers and a good veteran presence for their prospects. Yet, one has to wonder if his marvelous play could result in him receiving a longer stay with the NHL club in the future.
In 80 career games between the Boston Bruins, Toronto Maple Leafs, Florida Panthers, Buffalo Sabres, and Oilers, he has eight goals, 11 assists, and 19 points.
